Brian has been playing pipes for over 35 years. He began piping in 1967 playing with the Chilliwack Junior Pipe Band under the instruction of band leader and instructor Dave Steele. The Chilliwack Junior Pipe Band amalgamated into the Upper Fraser Valley Junior Pipe Band parading and performing throughout southern B.C. He eventually became Pipe Major. Brian then joined the R.C.L. Br#4 Pipe Band Chilliwack in 1971. He became Pipe Sergeant under the direction of Pipe Major Frank Froese and eventually became Pipe Major.
During this time he was taking instruction under Pipe Major Sir James Watt. Brian also became a member the Western Academy of Pipe Music. In 1980 Brian joined the newly formed Sir John A. MacDonald Society Pipe Band Grade ll where he was a member for approximately 3 years competing and doing well. Later, Brian rejoined the Chilliwack Pipe Band and again became the Pipe Major. He led the band in many 1st. place awards in grade 4. In the year 2000, Brian relinquished the Pipe Major position. He still continues to play as a member.
