On Saturday the 17th of May we competed at our first competition of the year at Campbeltown, This was the bands first time competing at the Mull of Kintyre Championships and I `am pleased to say it was a very successful day, the band was placed first in grade 4. I would also like to say well done Sandy McLean for
being our stand in leading tip due to Davie Hastie not managing to make the competition, this was Sandy's first time as leading tip and he done a fantastic job.

On Saturday the 24th of May Black Bottle Pipe Band win the Scottish Championships, this was the first major championship of the year.
I would like to say a big thank you to all the band members for all their hard work on the build up to this competition.

On behalf of the Chilliwack and District Pipe Band,(British Columbia, Canada), I would like to congratulate the Islay Pipe Band on their great success in 2007. It takes a lot of hard work, determination and dedication to accomplish what you have done. I'm sure you are all proud. 2 fellow members and myself had the pleasure of meeting one of your members while touring the Arbeg distillery during a relaxing stay on beautiful Islay after the worlds. We enjoyed Islay very much! We are looking forward to meeting more of you in the future. Cheers.
